Christmas Party Outfit Ideas for the Ladies

Costco, Michael’s and The Bay have had their Christmas displays up since like August, but now that it is officially after Remembrance Day, we can start getting into the nitty gritty of Christmas. When I worked in an office, our Christmas Party was one of the only days of the year when I felt like I could dress like myself. Monday to Friday, I had to cosplay as a secretary but once HR had a couple of sips of eggnog I was free to be my corseted self. If you’re anything like me then you’re ready to let your freak flag fly in the office. Last week we covered outfit suggestions for guys, this week these are my suggestions for Christmas Party Attire for the ladies.

Underblouse and Cincher

This is one of my favorite combinations. The underblouse has three quarter length sleeves that give you a bit of coverage on your shoulders and upper arms but the sheer fabric helps you feel sexy. The underbust feels like a hug when you wear it. Bonus, the boning will make you stand up straight. If you wear this combo with a camisole and pencil skirt then people will hardly even notice that you’re wearing a corset.

Queen Anne Corsetlet and Princess Skirtprincess skirt

If you’re feeling dramatic and you want everyone to know, then I suggest a Queen Anne Corsetlet and Princess Skirt.  You will look like the royal you suspect everyone knows you are. You’ll look formal enough for any venue you visit. Don’t worry about being overdressed, when you’re a queen everyone is simply under dressed.

christmas partyCorset Waist Belt and any little black dress

If you’re feeling a bit shy and you don’t want to go balls out bizarre around your muggle coworkers, try a corset waist belt with a little black dress. The waist belt will show off your curves and the lace up in the front gives the appearance of a corset without all that pesky boning. You’ll be able to eat and drink as much as you like and dance the night away. Win!

Refresher Course: What to Wear to a Christmas Party (for Dudes)

Hey Guys,

Last December we posted a style guide for men’s Christmas Party Outfits.  I thought now would be the perfect time to bring it back for a refresher. You CAN show off at your office Christmas party. I give you permission. Check out below for some outfit ideas.

Love,

Devon Dale, Lady Adventurer for Hire.

I want to address the fellas out there.

Guys, suits are great for daily office wear but your Christmas is party is the one time of year that you can really dress to impress. I know that you have a tie with Santa Claus wearing a Hawaiian shirt but let me give you an alternative before you decide what to wear.

Be a little different:

If you just want to dip your toes into alternative formal wear come down and try on a black velvet double breasted vest. You can wear it with a white dress shirt and black pants that you already own. You’ll look classy and elegant and just a little different than you do every other day at the office.

Provide a little shock:

If you want to show a little more of your wild side try switching your everyday pants for our black vegan leather boot cut pants. I know wearing leather pants to an office event sounds crazy but paired with the white dress shirt and black velvet vest you’ll look more high fashion than you think. Its romantic, elegant and sexy.

Go all out:

Time to show the office drones who you really are. Replace your white dress shirt with a white poet shirt. This is a statement.  And that statement is sexy pirate. Do it, you know you want to.

Blow their minds:

Add a cloak to the outfit we’ve been building. Enough said.

What are you going to wear to your office Christmas party this year?

Happy Novemberween!

Happy Novemberween Everyone!

We hope you had a safe and happy Halloween and that your day was filled with more treats than tricks. We have been busy in the shop restocking all the things that sold out over October and making all kinds of new things too! Here’s what we’ve been up to so far:

Fan Expo Prep

I can’t believe it but Fan Expo is less than a week away! We are so excited to be vending for our fifth (or is it sixth?) year in a row! This year we will have a double booth to accommodate all the awesome stuff we’re bring. What kind of awesome stuff? Well how about contacts, goggles, cloaks, kilts and corset? Just to name a few. We’re desperately busy trying to make sure that we have all your favourite things in stock in time. Don’t worry, if you need to pick up a couple things before the show, we are open seven days a week.

Faux Fur Everything

Brr… it’s freezing. November has aggressively burst through the door with cold weather and snow! Do not worry, we have been building up an arsenal of faux fur accessories to keep you toasty warm and looking badass. We have faux fur suspenders, cloaks and holsters in store with faux fur hoods on the way. What more could you ask for in this weather?

Cocktail Dresses for Christmas Parties

I know it’s a little early for Christmas carols and decorations but a lot of offices start their Christmas parties around this time of year. Why go in the same little black dress that everyone else is wearing when you could take the opportunity to stand out and show everyone your style? We have some super cute vintage inspired dresses, some sexy goth (but not too goth) dresses and much more in store as well as some new styles on the same. It’s definitely worth coming to check out.

New Sale Stuff!

So in order to make room for all the new things that are coming we have to make some space. Our World Famous Last Chance for Love Sale Rack has just been updated with bondage pants, kilts, corsets, crinolines and much more. There are some gems in there so you should come check it out before it’s all gone.

What are you up to this November? Let us know in the comments below!

Don’t know what to be for Halloween? Try an Elf!

It’s already October 9th! That means there’s only 22 more sleeps until Halloween! Do you know what you want to be yet? Well you’d better make up your mind. It’ll be Halloween before you know it and you don’t want to be part of the last minute scramble for a costume.

One of my favourite series of movies of all time is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I saw each film several times in theaters and I’ve watched the extended version on DVD more times than I should probably admit to. But what’s not to love? There’s magic, fighting, romance, orcs, hobbits and of course elves! This weekend, I was watching Legolas toss his majestic head of hair again and it occurred to me that we have everything you would need to put together a pretty decent elf costume in the shop.

So that’s exactly what I did! Or more specifically I put together a unisex accessory pack that could be the start of a most excellent elf costume. It begins with a green panne cloak. You could really use any colour cloak you want but green translates to elf for most people. Next we have a pair of prosthetic elf ears and green contacts. The ears are totally necessary but the contacts are optional. I find that they add a touch of other worldliness to the costume but the idea would still come across without them. I also added a pair of black velvet glovets. Again the glovets are not necessary but I think they help to give an air of royalty and elegance to your elf costume. Finally I topped the outfit off with a green glass potion holder because I just really just love the potion holders.elf

Now you may have noticed that setup isn’t a complete outfit. If you wanted to you could just wear a pair of black pants and a black shirt or a black dress underneath and you would totally look like an elf. However if you wanted to step it up then I would suggest a pair of brown vegan leather bondage pants with Jamie’s white button-up poet shirt and some boots. Alternatively, you could go for more of an Arwen look with green satin mermaid gown and some Victorian inspired boots.

So what are you going to dress up as this Halloween? An elf? Let us know in the comments below.

Featured Product: Cloaks

If there are two things I know to be true, it’s that cloaks are awesome and not having a costume makes Halloween kinda shitty.

There’s nothing worse than going to a party where everyone has elaborate super cool costumes and you’re just in a tank top and jeans. When people ask you what you’re supposed to be you either have to admit you don’t have a costume or claim to be a serial killer (because they look like everyone else). On the flip side, there is no better feeling that being out in a crisp autumn evening wrapped up in a cloak with a boozy hot chocolate. If you haven’t figured it out already, cloaks are the solution to not having a costume.

Seriously, if you have no idea what to be just get a cloak. Costume done. Wear all black under your cloak and if people ask what you are you can reply with either witch or warlock. BAM, you’ve just unlocked the Halloween costume achievement. It doesn’t even really matter what colour cloak you wear. You’ll still give off mystical person vibes and for most situations that’s good enough.

You can totally set it up though, if you want to. Try a poet shirt, black pants and boots with a cloak and you’re now a ranger, prince, knight, Aragorn or Robin Hood. It’s that easy. Wear a corset or Queen Anne Corsetlet with a princess skirt or long circle square skirt and you’ve become a princess, Lady Stoneheart, high priestess or lady knight. Want to be a jedi or sith? Start with a cloak. Want to be someone from Assassin’s Creed? Cloak. Elf? Cloak. Vampire? Cloak. Oh and most obviously if you want to be Little Red Riding Hood then you should probably start with a red cloak.

Thus concludes the Halloween installment of why Devon thinks you need a cloak. Do you know what you’re dressing up for Halloween? Let us know in the comments below.
