What is Commercial Drive Car Free Day?

Commercial Drive Car Free Day is a free festival that spans 15 blocks in East Vancouver. It highlights local shops, food trucks and entertainment. As you may have guessed from the name, there is a strong emphasis on taking public transit, walking or biking to the event. Commercial Drive will be shut down from North Grandview to Venables and buses have been rerouted to accommodate the event. Don’t fret! The Commercial/ Broadway skytrain station is super close to the festival making it accessible for everyone (even if you’re coming from Surrey)!

When/ Where is Commercial Drive Car Free Day?

Commercial Drive will take place on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from noon to 7pm. The festival will take place from North Grandview to Venables on Commercial Drive. It is a free, family friendly event. Food trucks and local restaurants will be open but if you prefer to pack a lunch and have a picnic, Grandview park is a nice place to visit. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the festival is 15 blocks long. Bring sunscreen and water because it’s July and the festival takes place outside.

Should you go?

If you like fun, free, community oriented activities then you should definitely go. This is our second year vending. We had so much fun last year that we just had to come back. You can browse the goods of local artisans or watch interesting street performers if that’s more your jam. Whatever you decide to do, it’s am upbeat, inclusive event that is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We will be bringing an excellent selection of Venus & Mars clothing for you to fall in love with. If you want to stay up to date with what we’re doing follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
